If you haven’t heard, it’s here… the all new iPhone 3G[s]!
Announced today, all the juicy details as well as the street date of… drum roll please, June 19! That’s right peeps, we’re less than just two weeks away from getting our hands on a spanking new iPhone 3G[s]!
With twice the speed, it appears that it has much better performance. There’s also a new auto-focus 3 megapixel camera with video capabilities.
Voice control also looks amazing, use it for calls and even iTunes, which there are a lot of cool commands for. Search is a much welcomed addition and is done via Spotlight, which seems to work as smoothly as it does on the mac. As quirky as it may seem, the new digital compass app looks fantastic as well, and will be great addition to the maps app.
The long awaited Cut Copy Paste feature looks like it was perfectly implemented, as if we were to expect anything else from Apple, as well as Landscape mode for all apps.
MMS also seems perfectly implemented into the message app. Send video, images, and text.
Better still, the price point! $199/$299 for the respective 16GB/32GB models. Essentially, the same cost as the previous models but… twice as fast, twice as much disk space/memory, and an upgraded camera, as well as other hardware upgrades.
It may not be everything we heard about in the rumor mill (this one is good too for a quick snapshot) but, it never is. The beautiful thing about new mac products is that as wild as some of the predictions are… apple always seems to come up with amazing new functionality that no one ever imagines. Also, the new OS 3.0 update will be released two days before the new handset, on June 17, and is equally as impressive (as far as updates go). Get all the new software update details here.
The bottom line is even though I waited a whole year, until the 3G was released (primarily because I was so happy with my BB Pearl and I generally stay away from Apple’s 1st generation products), before adopting the iPhone, I may have to take the plunge into the new iPhone 3G[s].
With all of its new goodies, the upgraded phenomenon we all now as the iPhone, is certain to further Apple’s stronghold on the mobile market.

Nice article. The thing that’s going to kill it for me is that there’s still no 802.11n support for wireless networking. Huge bummer!
